Alright, we'll make it a poll:

So, with the lessons of the Golfhos Ryder Cup firmly in our rear-view mirrors, a new chapter is poised to begin.  While I think we DO have the numbers for a "tournament", I think we're below critical mass for a team event.  Plus, it's been done.  For your consideration, I suggest:

a. Match-Play Championship event -- nine-hole handicapped match-play competitions, with winners advancing to the next round.  Sucks for those knocked out in Round 1, though, but perhaps there could be consolation match(es) to determine the Best Loser.

b. Round-Robin event -- everyone plays, say, three handicapped nine-hole matches against randomly-drawn opponents.  The four best records advance into semifinals, the two winners from those matches heading into the final (and probably the two also-rans into a consolation match).  Maybe a consolation match between the two with the worst round-robin records, too (teh sukkiest of teh sukk).

c. Tour-style event, but without the courtesy cars, the great course conditions, or the hospitality tents (sorry, stroh).  Everyone plays two nines, we impose a cut, everyone plays two more nines.  Medal play, but again, handicapped so more than two people have a chance.  Anyone plays the first two nines substantially better than stated handicap is cut and ostracized.

Clive just loves takin' a little poll whenever he can.

I voted for round-robin.  I think it is fun to be (virtually) matched up with a person for that week.
