A long time ago, when the NBA was at the absolute nadir of it's popularity, having just swallowed up the way fun ABA, Dan Jenkins wrote:
'Every 24 seconds, ten (insert HIGHLY OFFENSIVE RACIAL SLUR HERE!!!) jump up in the air.'
It was crass, unfair, racist and spoke to a league that had lost sight of what a beautiful thing the game can be when played as a team sport.
