Pending Mid-Life Crisis
« on: July 14, 2008, 09:01:05 AM »

My on again off again interest in getting a new vehicle has surfaced once again and is taking on a mid-life crisis indentity.  The hybrid market has grown frustrating with the 'limited availability' stuff, and I'm starting to look at sport coupes.

The problem... where to put the golf clubs.  Anyone have good ideas on reasonable sports cars that have room for clubs in the trunk, or even back seat (the clubs ain't riding shotgun - no way) ??   Am I tilting at a windmill here?

Here's my mid-life crisis car.  Holds 2 sets of clubs and 2 duffle bags in the trunk with the top up.  One set with the top down.

It is my understanding that one of the fundamental design parameters of all new Corvette models is that there will always be room for two golf bags in the trunk. Of course "reasonable" is a relative term.

You'd be surprised just how ergonomic are the new class of superlight stand bags, both on and off the course.  They take up almost no room.

I wouldn't go shopping for a midlife crisis present without one.

Not really, many people hit their mid-life crises much earlier or later than most. It's sort of a vague term.

Yeah, I'm still entertaining the vette option - but honestly, its a bit more than I want to spend.  I like my golf club membership, my ability to travel when I want, etc.  I think a vette may squeeze my travel budget.  But ya never know, I may catch the itch.

I'm getting an early start.  Some say I'm a fast learner, others refer to it as 'premature'.

I was thinking for about the same price (or even less than a new 'Vette) you could get a sweet sports car that's unique from a place like Hooked On Classics.

I love mine.

You're supposed to store your clubs at your course.  Why worry about having to haul them?
