Even I could have solved that. It looks like her pre-programmed a specific sequence and then "messed up" the cube to fit that pattern. Either that or "No, seriously. Guy creates monster. Monster kills guy. Everyone kills monster. Wolfman."

I agree.

The kid let the whole thing down with his clumsy ass attempts to make it look cool.

When the robot sees how the kid ruins it I bet he stabs him through the eye with a big metal spike and sends someone from the future to the past and kill his mum while she is pregnant.
