Apple?
« on: December 18, 2006, 04:56:51 PM »

I may have asked this before, and probably got more than I bargained for, but here goes.

This PITA, POS box is sending me over the edge.

I'm aware of what seems to be a large anti Windows/MS sentiment here.

I am interested in buying an Apple.  I have no experience with one, personally.

Our oldest daughter has had one for 4+ years, and loves it.  My BIL bought one last year and raves the same.  When I talk to the IT guys at work, the speak highly of them, even though the entire company (in house) is all pc, Windows.  What they say is 'their IT duties extend out of the building, to the Doctors house, for all upgrades, crashes, etc.  They never get 1 call for those Rad.s that have Macs.  they just work.

Thoughts?

At a crossroads.  Don't roast me. Grin

opinion:

if you're ditching winblows, go all out.  get a real linux box, not a pretty case/gui with proprietary hardware

I guess since windows, is basically all encompassing as an OS.  That maybe what I'm thinking, even if I can't articulate it.

I was never an Eensteen, by any stretch, but I am clearly falling behind the curve.

I am at a point now, when I want to do something, with something, and find myself completely lost on where to start.  I can't find files.  I can't seem to be able to move them, I cant get user "views" to do/display what I want...........etc., etc.

I'm not looking for a "Fisher Price" 2 button computer, but,  lately, things seem out of hand.

I have some images on a cd, I can't "move" move anywhere, and nothing will read them, because they are TIFFs.

on, and on.

That new series of commercials with the 2 guys: "hi, I'm MAC, I'm pc.....etc"
really appeals to me.

probably after the learning curve.

my point is, since you have the learning curve, go with the one that's a bit steeper with real linux, and become more pc proficient, while saving some $

Exhibit A:

Now, first, my spysweeper says(in a pop) it can't get updates. I have no effin idea why.  I got to get manual updates, everything seems fine, re install spysweeper and this comes up:

So, why does SS, and Norton fight?

How do I know for sure what " is-OUEVER.tmp is???!!!

Do I allow it?  I go through sh1t like this every day. Angry Angry Sad Sad
