Is it just me, or why does it seem that as dominate as Johnson is/has been he doesn't have that presence or exposure (I don't know what you would call it) that winning at that clip would bring.

I know a lot of people hate him.  (I don't follow racing in teams/camps/manufacturers, I just like good racing)

But as a "name" I don't see him on the radar.  Ala:  "3",  Jr., Gordon, Stewart, etc.

Discounting team v. individual (and the obvious technological aspects),  Would you say that winning the Cup 4 years straight would be tantamount to winning the Super Bowl, World Series, U.S. Open, etc 4 years straight?

Structurally, NASCAR is most like the PGA which is why the PGA stole the 'Playoff System'.

It would MOST like winning 4 Masters in a row. The track is there for the taking every week, and you're racing the same guys every week.

I don't really have a point, just more of an observation or curiosity.  So, If I looked at my wife, or the people in the office I used to work with and said:

"You know who Jordan is?"  "Woods, Brady, Favre, Manning, Gretzky, Niklaus, Jeter, ...?"  etc., etc.

Answer:  "Duh."  Now to be fair, many known for many different reasons, but still many for being champions, and multiple, dominate champions at that.

I guarantee if I ask "What do you think about Jimmie Johnson?"

"Who?"

"Nascar.  Won his 4th straight championship."

"Oh".

"You don't watch much NASCAR do you?"   "No."

"You know Dale Earnhart?"  "Yeah, of course."
"Richard Petty?"  "I drive like him when I'm late for work."
"You mean Mario Andretti"
"Tony Stewart?"  "Yeah, the wild guy.  Home Depot."
"Jeff Gordon?"  "Oh yeah, dreamy.  Married a Super Model I think."
"Robby Gordon?"  "Is he Jeff's brother?"

"Jimmie Johnson?"  "..........."
