Hockey Skates.
« on: December 30, 2006, 04:20:52 PM »

I have had a pair of Bauer(el cheapo) skates for years.  They hurt my feet, and they go numb after a few minutes.

My daughter(Cool is skating a lot more, and we have a pond in our back yard, so we plan to skate a lot more also.

I remarked, about the fit/feel of my skates.  Karen bought me new ones for Christmas.

They are Easton Series 200.

Will the upgrade help?(I haven't tried them yet)

I know you can have "form fitted" skates, but I don't want to spend hundreds.

Should I keep, return, upgrade, different brand?

Nike? CCM?

Thoughts?

Undecided  I suspected as much.  I am prepared.  I have a fifth of Beam, and a copy of "Jugs" while I await moderation.

I don't think you will see much difference, unless they are the left handed kind.

A tutu will, however, make you so smoking hot the ice may melt.

I refrained from pics, others may feel free not to.

Hockey skates are generally worn a little on the tight side, about 1/2 size too small (or more).  And they're very rigid.  As a result, skates will always hurt your feet.  You just have to get used to it.

I've tried a few different kind of hockey skates, and while none are "comfortable", some feel better than others.  I had CCM's that were downright torture.  Also had a pair of Bauer's that were so-so.  Currently have a pair made by Koho that are the most comfortable that I've found to date.

Cool, thanks guys.

I heard/seen that the stores do this custom mold/heat/form fitting.  I always thought my skates were just cheap.

I have high arches...take a look at skates in a store sometime...you'd be surprised at the angle some of the boots have on them. CCM seem to go straight and then up the ankle, while most Eastons go on an angle up before they get to the boot. FWIW I wear Eastons now and at first they hurt a bit, but seem to be great now. I leave the laces onvet the crown of the skate loose (REALLY LOOSE)and only tighten the top two holes.

Cool, thanks guys.
