Impersonation accounts - love 'em or leave 'em?
« on: January 02, 2007, 10:33:43 AM »

There are a couple of "members" being impersonated here, one more obvious than the other.  What do you guys think of this?  I tend to err on the side of leaving things be, but I wanted to see what people thought.

Frankly, I'm less bothered that these guys are being impersonated, than that they could be funnier, more overt, and scathing in their parodies. Devil

(I'll be off the forum for the next two hours driving to work, but I'll check this thread later.)

**edit, damn apostrophes Mob**

Can be confusing having to guess what members are really real. Wink

I would simply ask that they use "warn tags" for those kind of images
Thanks.

I'm fine with them. I wasn't sure porkchop was the real deal until the "everyone hates me, my life sucks and it's everyone else's fault, jesus Akbar" post in stroh's christmas thread. Never had any doubts that our pnf is the real deal. It's so damn obvious.

It takes you two hours to drive to work? WTF?

They can be funny (funnier), but they can be mean-spirited, too.  Ultimately, I don't care.

It'd be nice if the person behind the impersonation could be visible (perhaps by clicking on something, so as not to ruin the illusion), to get his props (or not).

Hmm, interesting voting so far. Scratches Head  I changed the poll to leave it open for 24 hours.

I've also said in the past that the karma feature is a nice tool to see how welcome people are around here, so feel free to let the applause/smiting fly if you feel strongly about one of the characters in question.  That could be interpreted as the real person or the impersonated person, I guess it doesn't matter.

This is a tough call because I feel that anarchy should prevail around here, but it makes it harder to recruit people to this site when the front page is full of the puttnfool/prokrop show (or even worse, caricatures of them).  It may give a newbie the wrong impression of this place.

If karma is to be believed as an indicator of one's welcomeness, shall I assume Clive is wasting his time here?
