Honestly..a little surprised but not a lot. TCU had (obviously) more game than many thought. Still should've been Stanford-WI. I have come to hate the 4-6 week layoff between bowls and the last regular season game though. I think the outcome would've been different in November. I'm a playoff guy. The BCS and ESPN have DESTROYED everything about the bowls as it is. I mean no one I know gives a *feces* about any of them anymore unless their team is in it. 8-16 teams. You can still have your 73 bowls. Hell, have the first round losers eligible for bowls. |

The Rose Bowl on cable on the West Coast is an actual sin against god, and I hope everyone involved burns in hell for all eternity.
I seriously switched over to ABC at kickoff time and sat there with a stupid ficking expression on my face for at least 10 minutes.

I did the same damn thing. Flipped on local channel 5 and literally said 'what the *fudge*?' For the kids out there, this is how Jan. 1 should go down: Wake up with a smile on your face trying to remember the night before. Grab a coffee and whatever serves as breakfast. Flip on the Cotton Bowl. As the day progresses and feeling starts to come back perhaps it's time for chips, cheese, pizza, burgers, fries, etc. Then, it is time for the Grand Daddy of them all. At this point you are ready to get back on the horse and have a pop or two. After the Rose Bowl you are now ready for some serious remote control work as the Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl are on in prime time. Every bowl had implications on who was going to be number 1. That, my friends, is why Jan 1. was special for me. |
