Nice 3:00 a.m. surprise
« on: February 14, 2007, 06:17:39 AM » |
|
Woke up at 3:00 am this morning to an awful smell. Hoping it was just a cat or dog fart I just laid there. Not any better 5 minutes later. Start wandring around the house in a fog, to find the stink. Turns out it was our dog, who go sprayed by a skunk (he has a doggie door) and came back inside.
Holy moley, the stench was awful. Think rancid mixed with pungent. Somehow it even crept upstairs. Wife took him to the vet as soon as they opened. He will be enjoying a "Skunk Away" baths today.
Why can't this stuff happen at 10:00 am?

Sorry to hear that.
Our bigger dog was musked in the face by a skunk at ~11:30 PM, the night before we were leaving at the crack-of-dawn on a trip. One two different occasions. I *feces* you not. (We have pretty bad luck when it comes to the night before a trip.)

One night our dog had the runs in his kennel. Didn't bark to wake us up. That was nasty as he got it all over the rug and wall too.
I feel for ya.

Been there. Try this recipe for a shampoo/wash. Do not store in a closed container as it will explode. Try not to let the dog ingest it or you will have a mess of another kind 1 Quart Hydrogen Peroxide 1 Teaspoon Dish Soap 1/2 cup Baking Soda If the dog is cooperative, leave the wash on him/her for approximately 10 minutes. Odds are you'll have to lather/rinse more than once. Good Luck

Man that sucks.
That happened to my brothers dog when we were living together in college. Our house was on the haunt of a family of skunks. One spring we set traps and got 6 skunks in 10 days. They used to get under our house which caused our house to smell like them all the time. Of course the city of Norman did nothing about it and we lived two blocks from downtown.

Of course the city of Norman did nothing about it and we lived two blocks from downtown.
That's because the skunks made it smell nicer than it normally was.
