How long has it been since you shot your PB round?
« on: October 20, 2006, 11:31:19 AM »

I'm playing hooky from work today to get a round in since I had to work last weekend pushing out a new release.

This morning, I realized that the last time I shot my personal best was over two years ago.  Shortly after that round, I went to a 3day golf school in vegas and completely overhauled my swing. Anonymous  It's been a tough road, but I'm feeling good about my swing these days and have been sniffing my PB in the last couple of months.

So how long has it been since you shot or tied your personal best?

i dont really know.   the 82 a couple of days ago wasn't the pb in pure score i don't think, but it's by far the best score on a real course with challenging conditions

as i've only been playing about 3 years, it can't be more than 3 years

Earlier this season. It seems, though, every time I shoot a really good round (the term being incredibly subjective) for the next 4 or 5 I go out and look like I've never seen a golf club before. I think performing at a level higher than I'm used to gets in my head and then I over think it for a few rounds.

Shot 82 about 5-6 years ago but I used to play fast and loose with the rules in those days.

Turned into a Rules Freak about 4 years ago and since then have shot 84 twice (all three scores, by the way, are on the same course).  It's been 2+ years since the last one though and prior to the last couple of months I've had trouble breaking 93-95.  I'm a bit like you dystopia, I've been (re)working my swing for a long time.  It's really coming together for me now.  Scoring ~90 every time out and leaving strokes on the course.  I expect to be getting a lot of 80-something rounds in the near future.  I've had 60-70 decent-to-good holes in a row (i.e. only a few doubles per round and no complete blow-ups)

Side note (threadjack?):  My PB over nine is 39 and I regularly score in the low 40s.  I just haven't had any luck connecting two such nines days when I'm playing 18.

Old?  Fat?  Weak mind?  Weak body?   Don't Know

Erm.. forever and a day?

I gotta say, if not for my putting, last week I'd have been if not at my personal best, very close to it.

3 years since my PB.  about 1.5 years since I broke 80, but I've only played about 5 or 6 rounds in that time.

I shot my PB two rounds ago.  I should have ended the season right there, but was having so much fun that I thought I should fit one more round in - and it wasn't so good.  Should have ended on a high-note.

July.  It actually tied my PB.  I had a great chance to break 80 for the first time and choked on the last two holes.  Sad

Few weeks ago I shot 80, tied my personal best. Of course I missed a bunch of makeable putts throughout the round.  Sad

I have broken 80 about 25 times in my life but my PB was an 81 on Bethpage Black about 7 years ago that I still dream about.

My PB was the last round of last year. Cool  I haven't yet played my first round of golf this year.  But I'm hoping to start out with another PB.

June 28th 2005.

Broke 80 for the first time, went out in 38 (quick sidebar, at the time I was a 16 hdcp.)

On the drive home a disc ruptured in my back, one month later I was in surgery, I've only played 27 holes since then.

But...this year baby.

At least 15 years ago, a 72. My golf game steadily declined since then, and I haven't shot in the 70's again.  I am now happy with anything below 90.

A long time ago I shot par on a pretty simple muni course.  That is my 18 hole PB from a scoring perspective, but I've had much, much better rounds since, even though none where I shot par.

I often play 9 hole rounds, and turn in the scores.  It's not unusual for me to shoot one or two under for 9.  The handicap computer combines these rounds as they come in.  Not long ago, I put in a 9 hole score and up popped combined 68 (4 under) score from playing 9 on two different days.  That'll *fudge* up your handicap big time.

I think I'll call that my PB from here forward.
