How to make par...
« on: April 15, 2007, 09:17:22 PM »

On the 17th hole at Washington National:

http://63.231.33.189/WAnatl/gallery.aspx?ID=128#

1) Hit tee shot 210 yards in the fairway, so far so good. (I was a little left of where the pic is taken from.

2) Pull 3 hybrid into first of the way more humongously deep in person bunkers you see in the pic on the other side of the creek.

3) Come out of humongous bunker sideways, because I don't carry an 82* degree club that I can hit 110 yards of said bunker.

4) 99 yards left, easy sandwedge and putt. Unless you chunk the wedge and end up 60 feet short of the flag.

5) Chip in.

Yawn...

That sucker is SERIOUSLY deep... Angry

I've been in it a couple of times now.

It's my own fault, really. The SMART way to play it is to hit one down to just over the cart path and hit a 7 or 8 iron on, but NOOOOOOOOO, I want to have wedge in and make birdie.... Roll Eyes

I'm thinking that to hit that the required 110 yards with the elevation the shot required, I'd have to put the SMT Basalt shaft from my Shinnie in it, although I could probably cut it down to 43.5 inches... Grin
