I just got news from a lesser school (University of California, Irvine) that I was awarded a full ride plus spending money, and free housing.
Now i REALLY don't know what to do. any thoughts from the sage and wise?

Congrats! Hard decision I'm sure but at least you have options. I would go to the school you want most regardless of money. I turned down some financial aide to schools I wasn't that interested in attending to go to OU. I don't regret it despite the student loans. Good luck.

Man, tough call. What are you studying? You're a bio-type dude, right? Is the dept. at UCLA much better than Irvine? Are you looking at grad school afterwards?

Having never been to collidge, I can't offer anything in the way of advice. If it were me, I would take the free ride. Unless there is a fair disparity in the curriculums.
Look at Aske. He could have gone to M.I.T., but choose a lesser known, and lesser expensive school. Thornton Melon School of Engineering. One hell of a diving team.

Who's got the 'friendlier' co-eds? I think if someone would have given me those two options 24 years ago I would have jumped at the free ride. Congrats and good luck MP!!!

Thanks for the words of advice guys. As of now I'm leaning towards taking them up on the offer. On top of what I mentioned before, I get alot of priorities at school including alot of research opportunities. but the best part (IMO) of this scholarship is that summer EAP (education abroad program) is included, which means next summer I may either head down to Chile or Australia for 3 months, all paid for by the tax payers of kalifornia.

but to add.... in terms of the social scene, UCLA definitely has hotter chicks and sicne it's closer to LA, has a way better weekend life. UCI is suburbian hell.
