Where would you draw the line...

Say you went out for a late night last minute option and grabbed some food at a fastfood drivethrough.
In a hurry, you don't check the order in the car. You get home (5 - 10 minute drive) to find some items not there or are wrong. How much $-worth of error would it take to get you to go back. ?

I guess it depends on how far off the order is. Nowdays you're talking about 3 and 4 dollar sandwiches.

1) I'd have to be missing 1 major item. I don't really care if I got a McWhopper with cheese instead of a double Kingburger with bacon.

They *fudge* YOU at the drive-thru, okay? They *fudge* YOU at the drive-thru!  Seriously, more than half time I go to the drive-thru, something gets screwed up and I don't realize it until I got home. I have never gone back as most of the time it is something small...regular fries instead of large, no chili or cheese on the chili cheese fries. I guess it would have to be a total screw up for me to go back. |

Well this scenario happened to us, while we were at Mareeba a few weeks ago.
Russell ordered two chicken strip burgers, plus other stuff. We get our order via the driver-through, we are out on the higway and Russell discovers that he has a packet of chicken strips instead of 2 chicken strip burgers, well I couldn't be bothered to turn around and drive back to Mareeba, and he whinged and carried on the whole way home.

Whenever this happens to me...I just call the fast food establishment. I get the phone number from the receipt, voice my complaint and then they put my name in a book for a free (insert item they fudged up here). I never go back!!

Not go back, and in give them no more business? Or not got back, physically to gain merchandise paid for?
I can see the first on a matter of principal. Although I would think after a while you would run out of options.
Is it the fact that it is perishable food?
Would the same apply if you got home from Wal Mart after 13 bucks, and found that the light bulbs, and Shrek DVD were in another bag?

That's one of the risks you take and should accept when playing fast food roulette.
It's implicit in the contractual arrangement: You want it cheap? Then you need to accept the measurable probability that what you receive may not be remotely similar to what you order.

Bad sandwich? I go back. I can't stand mayo, mustard and half the other crap they smear on sandwiches. If my order is wrong it's probably inedible from my point of view.
Missing fries? Let it slide probably.

Well I've had many different encounters at fast food establishments that either caused me to go back, call them or say *fudge* it and never return.
In Norman there was this Taco Cabana that was the worst. I got home (didn't check the order before I left) and they forgot to put my wife's quesadilla in the bag. So we have chips/queso/my food and nothing for her. So I go back and go inside and wait for them to prepare the entire order again. From then on I always check to make sure the entire order is present before I drive off. If one of the items is made incorrectly I just say *fudge* it and eat it anyways though.
Another scenario was from an Arby's that served me a piece of chicken in my sandwhich that resembled the turkey from National Lampoon's Chirstmas Vacation. Once I get home and saw that nasty thing shriveled inside the skin like it was cooked an hour too long I got in my car and drove back. Walked in and said I want my money back. Dumb ass manager said, "why?". I said because this chicken is dried up and nasty and I won't eat it. Bitch had the nerve to say, "It looks fine to me." I said, "Oh *goshdarn* really, here then eat it." She lamented and said ok I'll give your money back, but tried to charge me for the drinks, saying I drank them already. I said thanks and you are a *goshdarn* moran and I'll never eat here again.
Most of the time I just let it slide.
