Calling all Brew enthusiasts
« on: October 28, 2007, 12:30:27 PM »

So I just found out that there's a Beverages and More near my new apartment and I went to check it out and found myself in beer heaven.

any suggestions on new beers?  there's just too many to choose from.

I like most beers, hefs, dark ales, pretty much anything except bitter belgian beers (blue moon is the exception).

I wanted to get some Rogue Hazelnut brown but they were sold out, so I got a bottle of Hopf Weiber Bock (looked interesting) and a 6pack of Bard's dragon stuff (cheap $2.99/6)

going to go back soon, lol i'll probably apply for a job too.   Shocked Grin

BevMo kicks ass!  We should do a golfhos brew of the week/month and compare notes/tastings.

Nice idea dys! I'd be willing to throw out a few suggestions.

I'd love to participate, but odds are I couldn't get my hands on 75% of them without crossing state lines.  Sad

great idea!

fwiw the bard's tale dragon gold wasn't half bad.  kinda sweet and more of an ale than a lager as it's labeled.  $2.99 a six, that's a pretty damn good price! (reg price is supposedly 9.99)

Looks like I picked the wrong week to lose weight. (actually I had a beer and a glass of wine last night, so my dry period is over)

Let's try a Brew of the Month in November.  If we get too many suggestions at once, maybe we can have a poll to get it down to one to focus the efforts.

I love trying new beers, but I'm in a rut these days and just pick a lot of the old favorites, so I could stand to try something new.

This reminds me of a beer tasting that I once hosted where I asked a bunch of friends to bring a bottle of beer or two of their favorites or what they had on hand.  My girlfriend (now wife) took all the beers and put them in non-descript containers labeled Beer A-J and we grabbed every glass/cup I could find.  We tasted, discussed, snacked, and argued for hours.

I was going to post everyone's rating grid and notes afterwards, but I forgot.  The only thing I remember is that Pilsner Urquell came out with the best aggregated ratings and Sapporo was the worst.

I work P/T at a sushi restaurant.  I've noticed that everyone likes Asahi over Sapporo, but I actually like the taste of Sapporo.
