EPL Fantasy League Week 12
« on: November 02, 2007, 12:48:53 PM »

Took a 4 point hit and made a double switch.

Got rid of Torres and picked up Elano, finally.  Had to make another change to keep the lineup legal - picked up Keane in that process Wink

The freakin Arsenal-ManU game isn't on FCS  Sad Cry

Not to rub it in.

Well, actually, yeah, that was all about rubbing it in.   Poke

Finally enough dinero to dump Howard and pick up a cheap but performing forward.  Probably Benjani although I haven't had a good look at things yet.

No Irish Gastropubs are open that early.

Want me to aske/pbp it for you?  Maybe five times a half or so?

Thanks for the offer, but not necessary.

My co-worker Dave has Setanta and is going to record it for me.  Of course, he's a ManU fan and threatened to edit out any Arsenal goals before giving it to me  Devil.

But, in my desperation to see what should be a hell of a game - I signed up for Setanta Broadband and will be watching in a small window on my PC.

Hicks and his boys get lucky.   Devil

Just kidding.  Good match and the correct result was a draw.  The commentators didn't like the first half but I thought it was good.  I like defensive football (of both kinds) and good challenges/takeaways are enjoyable soccer for me.

A few observations:

1)  Fabregas got a goal but giving him a three point bonus was a bit much.  He didn't do a thing other than that.  And, trust me, I like him getting bonus points as he's my captain.

2)  Wayne Rooney is the most dangerous player in English football.  Maybe the world.

3)  Walcott changes games.  His pace I expect.

4)  Anderson is a thug among thugs.  How Ferguson can complain about the officiating when Anderson got away with the "waving the yellow" thing is a bit much.  Not to mention the three act play which in my opinion earned Fabregas his yellow.

1)  Perhaps the bonus was a bit much, but with the team game they play he is the engine that keeps it going.  You may not hear his name much because of all the one-touch passing.

2)  I agree - Rooney is looking great right now.

3)  I agree again, he challenges the defense every time he gets the ball - just wish that final touch was better.

4)  And yes - Anderson looked like a thug out there.  There were a few lame calls in the second half (I think the ref went too far in trying to make sure a tight game didn't get out of control), but they went both ways - not sure how Ferguson can complain.

I thought it was a good match - Arsenal proved they can move the ball against anyone and maintained the better possession, but the strong ManU defense limited the final chances.  I hate to admit it, but the Ronaldo goal was beautifully setup and executed.  The Rooney 'goal' (Gallas' own-goal) was unfortunate though - certainly made a difference in the match.

This must have been the most watched match Setanta Broadband has ever had - the bandwidth sucked Devil.  If its like that all the time, I not renewing next month.  Sad

City better do well tomorrow, or I'm losing my spot  Angry

And buck up Seamus - the season isn't even to the half-way point  Cheesy

Both Mark and I have Elano.  Plus I have Dunne.  I think you're going to need a clean sheet by Hart (which also gives me points for Dunne) plus a great game by Petrov to  keep your spot.   Devil

Spanky, you're looking good so far this weekend plus you also have Elano and Petrov standing by for tomorrow.  Should be a good total before all is said and done.

Who's the new guy?

Especially when you consider Schmiechel hasn't started for about a month now and you're going to get Reina and his seven points on substitution.   Devil

Yeah - he heard Dave and I trading barbs a few weeks ago and wanted in.  He and I have played soccer together for several years, but I'm not sure he follows the EPL that much.  Its all about coaching his girls teams right now.
