24,901.55

OR

24,859.82

Circumference of the Earth (in miles) around the equator and longitudinally through the poles?

gleek FTW!!!!

the name of such a shape ?

O.K. Dr. I actually needed to look this one up.

oblate ellipsoid or geoid

Yet, I think I once heard that the Earth is closer to a perfect sphere than anything that humans are able to create/machine. The tallest mountain is only 6 miles high and the diameter is around 8,000 miles. That's pretty amazing from a tolerance standpoint.
