Ever since our company merged with another one 2 1/2 years ago our division has been a bit neglected as it didn't really "fit" in with the others and I think things are going to get more fun. Last night at around 10:00pm I received the following email from my manager's manager:

All,

After 12 years, the time has come to say goodbye to {company} and all of my wonderful colleagues.  It has truly been a privilege and an honor to have known and worked with all of you.  I hope our paths will cross again soon.

Please keep in touch.  My personal email address is

Knowing how this things are written I am 99% sure this was not his decision. There have been a lot of rumors in the past couple of months about cost cutting, layoffs, etc., and I'm guessing this is just one of a few "farewell" emails that we'll be receiving.  Don't Know
