Thursday's the day
« on: April 15, 2008, 03:26:45 PM »

It looks like this Thursday will be my first round since mid-November. Supposed to be near 70°, and sunny. Last week was a possible, but I was recovering from a sinus infection. I'm psyched.

Snowed yesterday, mid 50s and partly cloudy today, 70s tomorrow, snow again on Sunday. I might be able to golf sometime in July.

It hit 80 here on Monday.  By mid-afternoon Tuesday I had two inches of snow on my grass.

Never fear, the weekend's gonna be in the 70s.  Oh wait... we were planning on Sunday.

Well tomorrow is the day for me.  Will be my first time to to play let alone hit a golf ball since my slipped disk.  Almost two months to the day so  Fingers Crossed.  I hope I can make it through the round.  Probably should just hit the range first time out but that wouldn't be any fun.  If I hurt myself again my wife will kill me.

7 years ago, I was on comp with a bad back (two bulging and one herniated disc, all lower back).  At one point, I asked my therapist about playing golf.  They happened to have some king of iron sitting around, an asked to see my swing.  Answer-go have fun.  Pivot, don't twist, and you will be OK.

Boy, I suck at golf.
Started out interesting. Quite a breeze, but 75°. Hooked my first tee sot, but left myself 138 to the pin. hit 8-iron to about 12 feet. Two putts and a par. I thought, 'This is going to be good.' Good tee shot, on the next hole, par 5. Second shot leaves me 20 yards right of the green. Played the wind, but ball cut right through. Skulled my pitch over the green. Chili dipped the next, and then hit it 20 ft past. Two putts for a double. Lost ball on the next tee shot, leading to a 6 (triple). Great tee shot, leaving ~125 to green, shanked 9-iron. Unplayable lie and a chip to the green. Two more putts and a double.
Great tee shot, leaving me ~35 yards to the green. Parred that one and whacked the next tee shot leaving me 147 to the next hole, (par 5). Had to hit over the trees or lay up to the left. Decided to lay up, but sliced the shot into the trees anyway. Managed a bogey. and bogeyed the next. Got a triple on the 8th and hit an excellent drive on the last. Ended up with bogey, for a 50.  Cry
Oh well. Practice only, and had a good time.
My driving was very good, but irons were a bit weak. chipping sort of stunk, and putting was so-so. But it was golf and I love it.

Thanks for the tip.  I'm going to make sure and swing nice and easy.

Walfredo, I thought that with the amount of dope you smoke, you would have the most relaxed easy swing out there. Grin

The good thing about getting old, is that you can hit the ball out of sight.
