Medium to medium well (I eat most other beef rare to medium rare), lettuce, tomato and onion. Maybe a pickle. Ketchup or mustard, rarely both, but never, ever mayonnaise.

Med well to well.
lettuce, tomato, pickles, jalapenos, cheese (american, swiss, cheddar, blue, etc... I'm not too picky)
I also will have them with bacon, mushrooms, onions, avocados.
BBQ sauce, Mustard, Mayo, Ranch, Chipotle Ranch.
I'll really try anything on a burger. I'm a burger *trollop*.

Medium, medium rare if its bison (a local place has it). Cheddar, red onion, thick sliced tomato, ketchup, mustard - perhaps a little lettuce as well.

With regard to mayo, I noticed that most diners, whether you're in NYC or here out West, serve burgers standard with mayo and sometimes mustard but rarely ketchup. I think the mayo enhances the taste of a burger--sort of like the way restaurants use tons of butter on steak. If you've ever had a BK Whopper without mayo, you'll know that it simply doesn't taste like a Whopper. I know it's cool to put down mayo because it's bad for you and it was invented in France, but I like it. Barney's here in Cali has a Baja burger that comes with thick bacon, Monterey Jack, salsa, and avocado. If I had the ingredients readily available, I'd prepare it like that every time. Oh, and cooked medium--a little pink in the middle but still cooked enough to have a little texture rather than being mushy. |

d'oh! I forgot about bacon! I love Barney's! Great burgers. I also forgot about Bo-burgers. Sauteed onions and a fried egg on top of a cheeseburger. I must have had hundreds of those in college.  |

Mix up some ground beef with some oyster sauce and soy sauce. Grill on BBQ then top the burgers with cheese, or pineapple. They will be medium to medium well. Mayo, bit of ketchup and grilled onions. Yummers!
