At the casino today.  Look over, and 3 machines away sits John Daly.*  Playing 100 dollars a pull.

Passed him again** with the casino exec. and whatever woman he's with these days......he is skinny, and I was surprised how short he is.  I towered over him.***  I thought he would at least be as tall as I was, but no.  Wearing a red wind shirt with the Grip it- N-Rip it Lion on the back.

*No.  I respected his privacy even though I wanted to say something.
**Yes I was stalking him.
***Trying to listen to every word said.  Along the lines of "If there's anything you need.."  'We're just here for an hour or so....'

I'd heard from other people that were surprised how short he is.  His (past) girth always made him seem like a giant on tv.

$100/pull.  craziness.

Exactly.

[Disclaimer:  this my first ever true brush with fame]

I have seen him/watched him on tv for his whole career.  I would have expected even with the weight loss to be bigger.
I guess If I ever stand next to Tom Cruise it will really be a shock.

Yeah, I was in the high roller section ('cause that's just how I  roll)  and I'm looking at the machines:  "Hmmm $5 nope $5 nope $25 LOL uh, nope.  $100   Who the *fudge* would play that?  5, 5, $1  Now that's in stroh's wheelhouse.  Let's get comfy"

About 15+ years ago, I saw Shaq in the main hall as I was walking out of the casino at the MGM Grand, and I also saw Will Smith and his friend Alfonso Ribeiro inside the casino. Smith and Ribeiro actually walked up to the lady who was sitting next to me at a blackjack table and started chitchatting with her as she played. I was surprised how short Alfonso Ribeiro was.

Nice!

Can you Moonwalk?  I can.  See at that point I would have just dropped the rube quotient (as opposed to the sports figure) and said "Dude, check this out."

Were the Golf Channel cameras there to catch it or their upcoming show?

That was my first thought actually.  I looked around but none.  Just him and the woman.  Wondered if they had finished filming already or not started yet.

Don't know if he was in the field at the Nissan L.A. Open whatever the *fudge* it is now or not.

LOL.  No everyone at work has been very nice.  Like I said I've been invited over to someone's house for almost everything.

I've met several guys around here that I've golfed with, but the problem is it's the same old thing of "Oh yeah, definitely.  Playing next X.  Def. give you a call."  X comes around and no call.  What happened?  Fill in typical excuses here_________.
Busy, something came up, etc.

Just got a text for today that they already had 4.  I can't complain about that too much, but it stills sucks now to just sit here.
I could go out by myself, but I hate to.  2 of the guys play for free, so I do too when I'm with them.  So not only do I not want to go out alone, I don't want to pay a hundred bones to do it.

Yeah, it sucks to be the 5th when there's a regular foursome that plays. You need to "take care" of one of those other 2 guys in the foursome. What you've got to do is:  Cut the hamstring on the back of his leg right at the bottom. He'll never play golf again. Because his weight displacement goes back. All his weight is on his right foot, and he'll push everything off to the right. He'll never come through on anything. He'll quit the game.

LMAO!  I'll get on it.

Today wasn't much of an offense because this particular guy owns his own business and belongs to several clubs and gets comped at many more.  He is routinely taking out clients and such which is most likely the case today.  It's one of those deals where "If there's room, you're welcome to join me."  He plays a lot during the week and that's usually when I can get out with him.

The main problem is just being new out here and not being in the thought process of these guys.  Unlike back home with my regular guys.  When one or two would put something together the next thing they would say is "Did you call Mikey yet?  He'll want in on this."

I'll get there.
