How to get into FGI
« on: January 08, 2007, 05:56:27 PM »

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc and look for a file called "hosts".  Change the filename to something like "hosts.old" and restart.  IIRC, this file stores the dns info for websites and sometimes does not get updated with new dns info.

Of course, if you actually use /etc/hosts for anything this approach might cause countless other problems.

Yeah, I saw that, too.  And coming from a mod that sees what goes on behind the scenes, it had an ominous ring to it.

I've deleted browsing history.
I've deleted cookies.
I've restarted my PC three times now.

Still no luck.

Go ahead and tell me I'll never be able to attack RickB again, it's ok, I can take it.

I got "freegolfinfo.com has expired."

I forgot the name of the parallel forum.

Pretty much figured FGI was history.

Assuming you have windows, have you tried opening up this file in notepad:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS
then adding this line to the bottom:
67.15.83.238   www.freegolfinfo.com

then save it and try your browser again?

(note that if you do this, you should probably remove that line in a couple of days when things get back to normal)
