I'm not a master club designer, but I know a thing or two about marketing and PR. SMT's product may indeed be every bit as good as Tait thinks it is (I've never used any SMT clubs beyond the durometer wedges, and I didn't care at all for them), but denigrating competitors and distributors does nothing to improve his image, nor the image of his product.

He projects insecurity alternated with smug superiority, and that shows me he's either not confident enough in his product to let it speak for itself or that he honestly believes he's built a better mousetrap and anyone who doesn't use it or speak 100% positive about it is a fool. Either way, mud thrown is ground lost.

I have to agree wholeheartedly. He was the main reason I stopped posting in FGI. I believe my comment alluded to him posting his self-serving crap, while being protected and exalted by the powers that were. I never understood how someone with such a tremendous product had to stoop to throw his weight around so much. Not to mention the entire Nemesis scandal/bull*feces*. How he was so appalled that a larger than life version was allowed to enter this country, (and now what is the size of the clubhead). I remember how protective the boss of FGI was of Tait that any who maligned the product was taken to task.

A lot goes down the toilet, which still fits.

I can't speak for what happened in the past, but I can say that this is most definitely NOT the case today.

Clive,
I know things have changed, but the bitter pill was swallowed, and I can't help but think it could happen again. Some of the mods over there are fine, but who knows how long they will stick around or be allowed to continue.

I was referring to the club, and the way the thread went on for days about how Tait was going to get to the bottom of the problem and make sure it wasn't allowed to persist.
Then whenever the difference in clubhead size came up, even by someone genuinely curious about the situation, that person was jumped on by several 'well-meaning sponsor protectors' Roll Eyes. And then Mr Tait would go on about how he spent hours and days without sleep to make sure the integrity of his company and revered clubhead were upheld. It was enough to make one puke Puke
Sorry for the rant.

Gotcha, I remember that thread.  I wasn't sure though.  I thought perhaps Nemesis the member (or tool if you prefer) might have become involved in something or another after I left.

What's the story behind the Nemesis? It must have been before my time.
