I Carnac'd that one as soon as they lost to Croatia to miss the Euro's for next year.

Will they go after Sir Alex again?

He's (very arguably) the best manager in football with a sweetheart deal at (arguably) the best job in football.  He's going nowhere.  Besides, he's not English.   Devil

They'll fuss about for six months looking at every swinging *8==>* under the sun.  Eventually, they'll once again decide it has to be an Englishman and come around to Jewell or Allardyce.  Maybe O'Neill.  I think the Mourinho speculation is ridiculous.  I'll state it right here, right now - he doesn't get a sniff at this job.

Maybe they'll pick someone with a track record of winning at any level.  Just a thought.

Well, no doubt he would turn it down - but they would still pursue him, Scotsman or not.

Correct - Mourinho has no shot at it.  It is interesting though that just a few weeks ago Wenger was fielding questions about the job, commenting that an Englishman should have it and that he would not do it regardless.

Another non-Englishman - but what about Hughes?  Signed a nice new contract, but.....

Gotta like Hughes.  He's doing a bang-up job with Rovers.  Not sure how (im)possible it would be for him to manage England.  Welsh isn't quite Scottish.  Wink

BTW, regarding my hint-hint of the other week, Rovers are part of the puzzle.  Make your moves tonight.

While we're at it let's have my boy Redknapp in the mix.  If nothing else the *goshdarn* press conferences would be a hoot.

* edit:  Didn't know about Hughes' new contract until you posted it.  Good move for all involved.  Like you said, no chance now.

Oh - I thought you were saying there was something wrong with my roster, like some bye weeks or something, and I didn't see anything wrong.  And even had some Gunners for the following week  Wink

I already made my move - perhaps I missed out, but I like the guy I picked up to replace Cesc (grabbed Gerrard) after he took another foolish yellow to get suspended this week  Sad

I kept Fabregas and put him at #3 sub.  Gotta have him for week 15.

Bentley in for Hunt and made him my captain.  One week experiment due to the fixtures and I'm going to try and get Hunt back in a couple of weeks.  Bentley's pricey and I'm not sure he's worth it.

Vidic doesn't play again.  Time to get rid of him I think.  Can't figure out what Fergie's going to do next and it's killing me.  I know they've given up a goal but would they have if Vidic was in.

Ooops.  Just heard Ferguson was sent off at the half.   Shocked

Allardyce stock is back up - a week ago he had no chance in hell.

Looks like it might be Capello.  So much for my Englishman theory.  I'd have bet money on that.

http://soccernet.espn.go....rce=soccernet&cc=5901

Quote
Providing Barwick can convince the FA board Capello is the right man for the job - and that should not take much doing given the appointment has already received the support of Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger - Capello can expect to receive a call at some point today asking him to come back to London for his official unveiling.

Why Barwick continues to be trusted with the job of finding national managers is a complete mystery to me.  His record is less than stellar teh suk.

I was really hoping they'd pick another jumped up first-termer with nothing more than a nice footballer career and/or two years of First Division managerial experience.   Sad

I could see the criticism coming, but didn't think it would come from Hughes of all people - guess he never wants the job  Wink  And Allardyce - that just seems petty.

I do understand that English is not even Capello's second language - that would concern me in the selection, but nothing else would.
