My understanding was that the word was supposed to be a BRAND, but at the same time the word people have come to associate with the ITEM in general.

(Then again, maybe that's why Uisce is ahead of me.)

Aspirin and Escalator, for example, used to be trademarks.  They became generic for the respective goods, after which the trademarks were canceled.  Xerox is afraid of this phenomenon to the point of taking out ads, "reminding" people that it's photocopying and not Xeroxing.

Whose action you hatin' on?  With maybe one or two questionable submissions (one being my Roofie reference, I was struggling for Lycra but it just wouldn't happen in the moment) in four pages I think the 'hos are kicking ass.
