She looks like she's using Slim Jim Phantom's artist. On him it looks 'Retro And Cool', on her it looks kind of pathetic. She's a torch singer, not a rockabilly artist.

Almost contrivedly (is that a word) so, IMHO. It's as if she wakes up every morning and says, "what can I do today to ensure I die young to ensure a legacy like Janis's?"
I don't think she's faking her bad girl image a'la Avril Lavigne.
I think she's got a substance abuse problem and a whole lot of money to spend on it.
