I was gonna post this last week but thought, nah. But seeing Clive's post.......
I shot a 39 with an X* last week.
* Short par 4. Big drive up the gut. 90 yards in. Terrible push flail with the SW into the green side bunker. Leave it in the bunker. Thin it out of the bunker by the hole about 9 feet. walked up john Daly'ed it off the front of the green with the wedge.
If I would have made the putt, would have been a legit 39, or 40 at worst with 2 putts.
Easily my best round of the year. (last several years actually)

Because I was mad! And drunk. But mostly mad. Well, it was 7, so it may have been equal. So mad and drunk. [boring details] Also in the interest of speedy play. Was playing in a five some, would have been a 7some, but 2 of the guys played ahead alone. I'm in play in the fairway, so I'm off jawin' with them on the next hole. *feces*!! got go hole out. Hit the crappy wedge. Hit another crappy wedge, hit a third crappy wedge, everyone is walking to the next tee. I didn't hole out for any heroics, so I just swept it off the green. Made par on the next hole. [/boring details] |

I tend to score my X's by tallying up how many strokes I played, then honestly estimating how many more it'd take to get in the hole.
Bogey ain't even close.
