NFL challenge rule

So.....can you challenge ANY play to review if there was a penalty? Holding, etc.?

BTW, the 12 men on the field was a correct call. I'm not disagreeing with it, just the rules surrounding challenges.

I think a review of a non-call is complete BS.

And no, I'm pretty sure only specific infractions may be challenged (e.g. 12 men on the field, delay of game).

True.  I'm not sure of the list, but not everything is reviewable.

So how about this?  Play gets called as incomplete, receiver out of bounds.  Play gets reviewed, and player clearly has 2 feet in, and possession.  Ruling:  A catch.
However, during the review, it is clearly evident that the receiver, mad a blatant push off(offensive pass interference) that allowed him to catch the ball.

Can/should a penalty be thrown/applied with the evidence witnessed after the play?

Isn't that exactly what happened with the 12 man?  No penalty called.  Review.  Penalty applied.

Discuss.

Ruling: catch, no penalty.

Penalties that involve NO subjective interpretation can be challenged.  Like 12 men on the field or delay of game.  It either happened or not -- by objective standards.
