The last I heard, the name made no difference, just the number.  Seems like someone just wants to make waves/noise.

I have two positions on this.

A.  I don't give a *fudge*.

B.  I hope someone challenges it and wins on say religious persecution.

After reading the article once more, I'm still not sure I understand the point of the proposed rule change.

deep down it's probably to 'help the leagues image by curtailing the widespread visibility of dreadlocks"

LOL  Not really.  I'll catch a few minutes when Karen has it on, but it seems lately it's always on my 9 to 9 nights.

Oh, I realize that. I just can't quite digest what the article is saying is the root of the push for the rule change. Kansas got called for a personal foul for what? And what did hair covering names on jerseys have to do with it? And hasn't the league already ruled on long hair?  Don't Know

With Polamalu's hair in hand, Johnson whipped him to the ground, making the tackle and saving a touchdown. The play drew laundry though, as Johnson was flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct personal foul.

Johnson and coach Herm Edwards argued that the hair is technically part of the uniform, but the penalty likely stemmed from a confrontation with safety Ike Taylor in the immediate aftermath of the tackle.

"The dude had hair," Johnson said. "What do you want me to do? They said hair is part of the uniform last time I checked. That was the only thing I could get my hands on."

Once he got a hold of Polamalu's locks, Johnson had trouble removing his hand, which prompted Taylor to come over and look out for the best interests of his teammate's flowing mane.

It is unlikely that Taylor, Johnson and Polamalu exchanged advice on shampoos and conditioners.

"It's real cute that Ike Taylor comes over and tries to defe nd his boy when that wasn't what was going on," Johnson said. "If I got penalized I hope it's because of me hitting Ike Taylor in the face twice and not for pulling Troy's hair."

Boys will be boys.

So it probably has more to do with the NFL's stance on horse-collar tackles and the close parallel that hair-tackles represent.  Condemn one, condemn both.
